I own Palmerstons and was appalled to read the previous comment The table mentioned is right at the Kitchen Door and we are only concerned for children's welfare. As for the merest menton of because it was a mixed race family,I find highly offensive and says more about the writer than my self or My Staff
Went in there yesterday, three adults and two children. There was only one table free, for four, at the back, so we sat down and I borrowed a chair from another table for one of the kids. Then one of the staff came over. Apparently they prefer to keep the passageway clear. I've worked in catering and understand all about access - it isn't actually very technical - but there was no attempt to be helpful, to suggest that perhaps we could squeeze up a little or that perhaps one of us could use one of the empty spaces at another table. So we left, and moved into the place next door, which had free places, fresh baked food, good coffee and courteous service. I do not want to speculate as to whether the fact that we were a mixed-race group had any influence on our reception in Palmerston's Cafe.
